Jamie Skyta

In Jamie's own words.

I joined Genesis Counseling with a heart for offering counseling that is both clinically sound and grounded in faith. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I provide Christian counseling that thoughtfully integrates biblical truth with evidence-based approaches to support meaningful, lasting growth.

My path to counseling was shaped by years of frequent relocations during my husband's 20+ years of military service. Those transitions, while challenging, allowed me to build deep connections with people from many backgrounds and strengthened my compassion for those navigating change. These experiences continue to inform the way I show up with clients.

I work with individuals facing trauma, anxiety, relationship concerns, and life transitions. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and EMDR. I believe healing happens best in a place marked by warmth, humor, and genuine connection even when the work feels hard.

A few things about Jamie.

  • I love to play sports (unfortunately my skill level doesn't reflect this!).
  • I drink my coffee through a straw.
  • Dogs are my favorite companions.
  • Traveling is my thing, even when sharks are involved.
